valentine’s day

I was a little bummed to find out that valentine’s day was on a sunday, i knew i would have to work all day. thankfully though i have a loving and supportive wife that understood completely that i would not be home all day.

that being said…..Thrive was GREAT!

mad props go out to mike k. dude, that word you gave last night was spot on. i was so blown away by the love of God. it’s totally true that we fill ourselves up with this love of the world……this garbage that stains us and anyone we share it with. we are falsely led to believe that the world is the ultimate love, the ultimate fulfillment. but GOD’S love is the ultimate love, the ultimate fulfillment. He showed a love like nothing on this earth could have shown us.

He saved our souls.

and He wants us to share that love with others. a love that does not stain. a love that brings hope.

worship was incredible last night. the words “you hold me now” have constantly echoed through me since last night. it’s just a constant reminder that however bad things may get, Jesus is holding on to us as hard as He can. it was so great see the thrive nation as one voice lifting up praise to the God of crazy love.

after thrive i came home to experience the other crazy love in my life. my beautiful wife. she made me dinner (absolutely the way to my heart haha). we spent the evening simply enjoying each others company. it is so refreshing sometimes just to turn everything off and spend some quality one on one time with the one you love.

great day for sure

«virus//scan»system~reboot//$$

This week has been rough…. one of those weeks were nothing goes right. It’s like a bunch of junk just decided to pop up all at once. I’m driving home from work on thursday and i have literally reached my limit. I’m mad at myself, mad at the world, mad at everything! My patience has worn so thin i can hardly drive without thoughts of crashing my car into the back of the guy in front of me who has decided that 52 is the speed he is going to drive on the interstate. I got home, sat down on the couch and flipped open the laptop to get on the internet. It’s a windows computer (need i say more) with absolutely no kind of virus protection whatsoever. This thing is infested with crap. Internet Explorer has so many toolbars at the top that you can barely see the actual browser screen. Every time you search for ANYTHING a hundred different search engines are searching for the exact same thing meaning……..internet is painfully slow. I pay like 50 bucks a month for “blazing fast high speed internet” and still have to wait 13 hours to actually view a webpage. And don’t even think about downloading a song or youtube video because that may not be ready until next month. I have all but picked up the laptop and threw it out the front door when i finally get a webpage to load for a free virus scan. 30 minutes later it had identified a couple viruses that had been eating away at my internet browser. So i deleted the virus and rebooted the system. Problem solved.

Then it got me thinking. I have allowed myself to get like this computer was. Infested with a bunch of junk that is slowing me down and not allowing me to operate correctly. So i prayed….God, help me to identify the virus’ in my life. Help me to eliminate them so that i may give YOU all of me. So i started to worship. I completely consumed myself with words of praise. I went to the quiet place. I gave myself completely to God and through this I was able to reboot my system.

God tells us in Col 3:2, set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. He wants us to put our trust in Him. To go to Him in times of need and hardship. To worship him when life seems to hard to stand.

God is our virus protection.

Without worship, we go about miserable.”
